13 years ago, we lost a wonderful woman, who my cousins and I called Tutu. Our grandmother was a beautiful person who loved her family, and especially her grandbabies, something fierce. Some years, the loss is just a fact, like needing air to breathe. Others, it’s like a fresh pain, knowing how much of our lives she’s physically missed. Besides 13 being an important number for me normally, it hurts a little more this year knowing we also recently lost her oldest sister, Aunt Mary. At least they are together once again. I’m forever grateful for the time I did get with my Tutu and that I’ll always have a part of her with me, but I’ll always wish she could’ve been here for all the new milestones in her grandbabies’ lives, including some adorable great grandbabies. I know I speak for all us cousins when I say we love and miss you so, so much, Tutu. And rest in peace to your amazing sister, Mary. (And I’ll probably post more pics on her birthday on the 27th and once we have Aunt Mary’s celebration of life next month, but I was having a moment when I realized what day it was.)
